CHAMBER MUSIC AND ENSEMBLE CATEGORY

COMPETITION GUIDELINES 

The competition is open to students between the ages of 6 to 21 at the time of competition. 

Only one piano is available. Acceptable teams include: one piano 4 hands or 6 hands, instrumental duos including string/piano, winds/piano sonatas, and trios or larger chamber music ensembles limited to a maximum of six students.

NOTE: NO concertos for solo instrument or solo pieces with piano accompaniment are allowed.  Any ensembles that include piano accompaniment must be played by a student. If any questions, please contact NLPA.

     

Application Fee: $60 per participant Fee is non-refundable.

Winners Concert Fee $180 per person which includes 2 tickets, certificates and trophies.

  • Winners’ Fees must be paid at the time of registration. The fee will be returned if not selected.

  • Additional ticket is $60 each.

  • Winners must perform at the Winner's Concert in order to receive awards or they will forfeit their status.

ALL WINNERS MUST FOLLOW THE COVID RELATED GUIDELINES FROM THE CARNEGIE HALL AND MERKIN HALL REGARDING THE WINNERS’ CONCERTS. The updated information will be provided as soon as it is available.

REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS

  • One music selection not to exceed 10 minutes in total length from standard chamber music/ensemble repertoire. If any questions regarding repertoire, please contact NLPA.

  • No changes of repertoire once submitted.

  • No amplifiers or speakers allowed.

  • Judges’ decisions are final.

DRESS CODE

  • Proper concert attire is required for both the competition and the winners’ concert.
